Pediatric Dentists

Amy C. Davidian, D.D.S., P.A.

Pediatric Dentist Dr. Amy Davidian

I’m so excited to welcome you and your child to Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry! As a mother myself, I understand how difficult it is to trust someone else with your child. I can honestly say that I treat my patients as if they are my own children and I truly love my career as a pediatric dentist. From an early age, I knew I wanted to work with children and pediatric dentistry became a perfect fit for me. I attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, graduating with a degree in Biology with Honors. I then continued my education at the UNC School of Dentistry, receiving my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following dental school, I completed pediatric dental residency at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. This 2-year residency program enabled me to gain valuable experience and knowledge in oral/conscious sedation, pediatric dental trauma, and special needs dentistry within a unique hospital environment.

I returned to North Carolina after residency and practiced as a pediatric dentist in Winston-Salem for over 7 years. Both my family and I are natives of the Durham/Chapel Hill area and wanted to move “back home”, so I decided to establish a practice in Durham. I feel fortunate to live in such a great community I am able to enjoy with my two wonderful children, Ava (9) and Liam (2). The people, schools and culture make this area a great place to live, work and raise a family. When away from the office, I enjoy concerts, traveling, theatre, running and biking.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child. The relationships our office develops with our patients and their families are priceless. We team together to provide comprehensive sedation treatment options including in office oral sedation and general anesthesia. We truly care and are committed to creating a difference in the life of your child by making their dental visit special, fun and non-threatening. Don’t be surprised if they don’t want to leave!

I am thrilled to join the outstanding team of dental professionals at Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry. I have found my calling in pediatric dentistry, and I am passionate about providing the greatest possible care for children of all ages in an environment that not only creates positive results but also a positive relationship between your child and the dentist.

I attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry with Honors. I continued onto the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, I spent time assisting in general and pediatric dental offices and involved in pediatric dental research. Upon graduation, I went on to work as a general dentist in the Fayetteville area. After working over 4 years in this field and having 2 daughters of my own, I confirmed that my true calling is in pediatric dentistry. I knew I could make the greatest difference in the lives of children and decided to go back to school to do so. I completed a two year Pediatric Residency at East Carolina University, and I now look forward to working with your families in an environment where your children feel safe and have fun going to the dentist!

I spent the first 10 years of my life living in Durham, and as a life-long TarHeel fan, I am excited to be back in the area with my wife, Caitlin, and two daughters, Sophia and Capel.

Dentist Anesthesiologist

Edward W. Davidian Jr., D.D.S., M.S.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Edward W. Davidian Jr.

I have the great pleasure of working with the team at Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry to provide in-office general anesthesia services. As a father I understand the importance of finding a dental practice that offers a comfortable, fun environment that feels like home. Our team strives to provide an unforgettable experience in our pediatric dental office.

I received my B.S. in Business and B.A. in Chemistry from East Carolina University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Afterward, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I earned my D.D.S. degree with honors in May 2001. I completed one year of a general practice residency with the University of North Carolina hospital system from 2001-2002. During 2004-2007, I also worked with a general dentist in Raleigh who specialized in providing comprehensive care to high anxiety patients utilizing oral sedation. My passion for oral sedation motivated me to complete a residency in dental anesthesiology at The Ohio State University, where I received a Masters of Science and a certificate in dental anesthesiology. I went on to become a diplomat of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, which requires completion of a CODA accredited dental anesthesiology residency and successful completion of a written and oral board examination. The dental anesthesiology residency prepared me to manage pain and anxiety in a comprehensive manner while treating both adult and pediatric patients.

Along with providing a full spectrum of anesthesia services at Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry, I practice in the Raleigh/Durham NC area for a local oral surgery team. Outside the office, I enjoy running, cooking, scuba diving, and race car driving. All of us at Southpoint Pediatric Dentistry consider your family a part of ours and we sincerely look forward to getting to know each of you!
